After spending two weeks in Norfolk. I then had more training in Dania Beach. But first, there needed to be some fun! A girl’s weekend in Miami was just the thing! My dear friend Megan came down for the weekend. I hadn’t seen her in well over a year so I was so glad we had a reunion. Even better is that it was also my Birthday. I’ll tell you what, Miami is a fun city to celebrate! Of course, the weather was filled with rain, but we didnt let that kill our vibe. Our first night we arrived around midnight, but that’s when things get started in Miami. Megan and I went out from some cocktails. Miami is warm and all about the beaches. It’s my kind of place. You can find any food you can think of. She is tourist by day, party by night. Just about every building, pizza places, book stores, you name it, turns into a night club come midnight. So naturally, there is something for everyone, and you’ll never be bored.
On Saturday we made our way to Fort Lauderdale and went to Kelly’s Landing. This resturant serves the absolute best New England Clam Chowder! You have to try it. We then had the crab cakes and they were good too. We ended the night with seeing “A Star is Born” in theatre.
On Sunday the weather was a little better so we got to walk around. The morning started off with getting some doughnuts and coffee. First stop was the Salty Doughnut! As seen on Insider, and boy was it good!! I had a traditional brown butter glaze and their limited edition chesnut cannoli doughnut. If you are in Miami you have to stop by! We then had some Nitro Coffee at Panther Coffee. It was my first time trying the new Nitrogen trend. It made for a smooth coffee experience. Despite having doubts, I actually really enjoyed it.
Next up was the Woodwyn Life Street Festival. It was an art street festival for different local businesses. There was art, jewelry, music, and food. One of my favorite stands was from SipSmith. This happened to be a London based Gin Destillery that allowed you to dress up a drink of your own imagination. There even was local art on display almost set up as an outdoor gallery feel. And we also, of course, had to stop buy Coyotaco – famous for their tacos. YUM!!
The last stop was the Woodwyn Walls. This is a must see if ever in Woodwyn. This is a section of streets with large wall murals on display. Some artists always rotate through the display so it will change. There are large murals, but also art galleries to see as well. Here are some that I liked:
It was a weekend of delicious food, and art emerson. The views were great, and it was a fantastic getaway. Most importantly, I got to spend some quality time with my old college roommate Megan. š¤ā¤ But now it’s back to work….

Stay Salty!
