So I’m back here at the AMO STAR Center for one week training. The best thing about coming here is seeing long time friends in the Industry and the weather! The first night I arrived, Megan and I had dinner with our good friend Steven at El Camino on Las Olas. This place has a nice spin on Mexican food and drinks. I got to try for the first time a Cactus Margarita. It had a surprisingly refreshing taste, but a bit of a slimy texture. What I liked most about this place was that it was a converted warehouse so its decorations were cool. Las Olas is a fun street in Fort Lauderdale with shops and resturants. It definitely makes for an enjoyable evening.
Mondays in Hollywood, Florida Art Park is Food Truck Night. Every Monday from 5:30 to 9:30 the park is filled with different food trucks. I chose Amaize! This food truck made corn bread into hot sandwiches. It was a refreshing take on both the taco and the sandwich using corn. Plus, everything they sold was Gluten Free. I had the grilled chicken with queso. We then tried fresh Chirros! For $7 we unknowingly bought 14 whole fresh chirros but they were good!! The night was chilly so we stopped for coffee at Chocoladas Bakery and Cafe. This was a cute shop with hand made desserts. They served perfect cappuccinos with smooth foam and a smooth coffee flavor. They also had Miranges! These are a sweet airy cookie made mostly of egg whites. They make me think of baking with my Aunt so I always get some when I get the chance. They also make a great morning snack while sitting in class. 😉
Ladies Night!
I had the pleasure of attending the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) USA Florida Chapter Party held at the Layderdale Yatch Club. I was invited by my Chief Mate Jen Senner. It was such a nice evening and I met many power house women!💪 This is a network of Industry leaders and I appreciated the chance for all the great advice they gave me.
Stay Salty!
